Mallika Sherawat almost drowned whilst shooting for Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam.

Director Sanjay Chhel remembers that while shooting for a sequence in Pondicherry, Mallika was required to play a musical instrument standing in waist-deep sea water. But while shooting there was this massive high tide that almost dragged her inside the sea.

She could feel the sand sinking under her feet. Sanjay Chhel and the production unit was quite concerned and wanted to cancel the shoot. But Mallika insisted on completing the shoot. And now, Mallika’s sensuous look in the scene has turned out to be one of the highlights of the film.
