Kollywood has had an exciting 2 years, with many stars and rising stars and offbeat celebrities celebrating momentous occasions in their lives. Let's look at what's been happening to some people we love to love, in the Tamil film industry, in the last 2 years or so:

Dhanush married Superstar Rajinikant's daughter Aishwarya in November 2004 - they're a very happy couple now and were blessed with a son just some months ago, name Yathra. Dhanush and diamonds seem forever in Aishwarya's life with Dhanush! And of course, Dhanush , like all doting fathers and loving husbands has been racking his mind for the name of the baby (a difficult job since no one knew if it was a boy or a girl!) since Aishwarya was just a few months pregnant - we at Galatta.com have had hours-long coffee sessions with the actor to brainstorm on the perfect name!

Handsome Madhavan is just getting handsomer everyday - could it be because of his beautiful blue-eyed boy Vedaant? One can only guess, but Madhavan's career has literally shot through the skies after the birth of the little boy in August 2005.

Suriya and Jyotika's fairytale romance bloomed into a life-long partnership after their wedding in September this year. Suriya and Jyotika have been dating for a long time, although they have tried their best to keep it all a secret. Both of them looked resplendent in their finery at their wedding at the Park Sheraton hotel in Chennai. Although the occasion itself was marred by comments from the hurt and upset press, who AFTER being invited for the wedding by Suriya's father, veteran actor R. Sivakumar, they were asked NOT attend, at the last minute!

To show that the press is indeed close to their hearts, Suriya and Jyotika hosted a luncheon for them the next day at the Residency Towers hotel in Chennai. Suriya has subsequently signed up with Gautham Menon for his next film Vaaranamaayiram and Jyotika can be seen completing her former commitments, including Gautham Menon's Sarath Kumar starrer, Pachaikili Muthucharam.

Director Bharathiraja's son Manoj has already joined the list of married celebrities. Actor Vijaykumar's son Arun Kumar too is soon to join the flock of married celebrities

Gautham Menon and wife Preeti had their 2nd son (who is going to have a beautiful name, from what we have heard) 10 days ago and Harris Jayaraj became daddy to a darling little girl, Karen Nikita , just a few weeks ago.

Well, it seems that the industry is busy, busy, between films and family life!

    Repeating-the-same-pair-

Now that the promotions of SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM have begun and the fresh pairing [Bobby Deol, Upen Patel] has come in for tremendous appreciation, Suneel Darshan has decided to repeat the actors in his next project. However, a separate source informs us that Suneel is planning a love story with Upen in the solo lead. What's the truth?

"The truth is, I've signed Bobby for one more film and Upen for two more films. Bobby has already worked in three of my films [BARSAAT, DOSTI, SHAKALAKA BOO more

    Isha-and-Mona-walk-out-of-Shaka-Laka-Boom-Boom-too

After Sanaa Panscholi, Isha Koppikar was the second actress to walk out of Suneel Darshan’s Shaka Laka Boom Boom. And now, the latest actress to opt out of the film is Mona Chopra (who now calls herself Menka Chopra).

Menka had earlier done a cameo in Suneel Darshan’s Dosti. In the upcoming film Shaka Laka Boom Boom, she was again supposed to play a cameo opposite Bobby Deol. But the actress says that she is now looking forward to lead roles only. She also told Suneel Darshan that she wasn’t keen on playing the role and he more

    Viju-Shah-back-with-SHAKALAKA-BOOM-BOOM

Viju Shah, who had just one release each in the last three years, ASAMBHAV [2004], SHIKHAR [2005] and YUN HOTA TO KYA HOTA [2006] would be starting the year 2007 with SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM.

Though the film has music by Himesh Reshammiya, Viju has been roped to create the background score of the film. To suit the chic-n-peppy mood of the film, Viju comes across as just the right choice for the background score if one considers the kind of techno music he has been giving over the years for f more

    Kanganas-double-treat-for-her-fans-this-Valentines

If the release schedule remains untouched this Valentines, fans of Kangana would have a double bill to choose from as 2 of her films release together!

'Metro' and 'Shakalaka Boom Boom' are her two films in question, both of which are slated to release on 16th February. However none of the two films are core romantic stories per se.

While Anurag Basu's 'Metro' narrates the tale of number of urban individuals trying to cope up with life in a metro [in this case Mumbai], Suneel Darshan's 'Shakalaka Boom Boom' is a far cry from his rooted Indian films that he is famous for and instead takes you to foreign shares to narrate a tale of professional rivalry [set in music industry].

Now it has to be seen if the clash more

    Bipasha-ops-out-of-Ram-Gopal-Varmas-Film

Ram Gopal Varma's new film Darling is going through a mammoth change in its starcast ever since it's inception. The film earlier titled Baby was initially supposed to be starring Randeep Hooda but he subsequently opted out of the film. He was replaced by Fardeen Khan.

Then the leading lady was supposed to be Lara Dutta who too opted out of the film and Esha Deol took the advantage by signing up. Now the latest buzz is that the other leading lady Bipasha Basu has too walked out of the film citing date problems. The person w more

    Gangster-girl-stepped-on-Bobby’s-toes

She’s the powerhouse actress from Gangster — A Love Story and Woh Lamhe, but put her in dancing shoes and Kangana Ranaut freezes. She kept stepping on her co-star Bobby Deol’s toes while shooting for Shakalaka Boom Boom. 'She’s very good at Indian dances, but tends to get put off by Western rhythm. While we were doing songs from Shakalaka Boom Boom, she was uncomfortable,' said Bobby.

'She even poked my eye during the dance,' laughed Bobby. 'She’s so tall and yes, she kept stepping on my toes. But s more

    Upen-Patel-goes-Shakalaka-boom-boom

Filmmaker Suneel Darshan is determined that protégé Upen Patel’s film with him is as much talked about as it is looked forward to.

Not that the model-turned-actor didn’t get his due in his debut 36 China Town, but Darshan wants to ensure that Shakalaka Boom Boom takes Patel to another level. The musical, a desi version of Amadeus, also stars Bobby Deol, Celina Jaitly and Kangana Ranaut.

One of Darshan’s ideas is to shoot a special title track focusing on his blue-eyed boy. “To be shot extensively in New York over four days, this song will see Upen perform a song choreographed by South African choreographer Tyrone Watkins. The song will also feature about a hundred girls,” informed our source.
