Deepa Mehta’s Water is headed to the Oscars but no it is not India’s entry but rather Canada’s official entry to the Oscars. Since the producer of the film is Canadian, it became Canada’s entry. Director Deepa Mehta was elated with the development and so was actor Seema Biswas who was also part of the film’s cast.

“I am very happy though I would have wanted it to be India’s entry definitely. The setting was in India as was the whole star-cast but since it was produced by a Canadian, so it belongs to Canada. But I thank God for the opportunity and I hope the film does well for itself”, said Seema.

Deepa Mehta’s Water stars John Abraham , Lisa Ray and Seema Biswas in pivotal roles.
