Suresh Gopi has never played the role of a CBI officer in his career, though he is famous for his cop roles -- undercover, senior, honest, police officer on a mission in many of his movies like Commissioner, Ekalavyan, F.I.R., Crime File, Bharath Chandran IPS, etc.
However, this National Film Award-winning actor (for Kaliyattam), whose portrayal of the police commissioner 'Bharath Chandran IPS' in Commissioner (1994) shot him to superstardom, came closest to starring in a CBI film when he appeared as Sethurama Iyer in a CBI Diary Kurippu series.
Now, his dream is coming true with his new film, Ringtone, directed by debutante director Ajmal and produced under the banner of Panchajanyam films.
The film is about an investigation into a series of mysterious cyanide-related deaths that take place in a tribal community.
Suresh Gopi is Ninan Koshi, the CBI officer who investigates the case.
Ringtone is expected to start shooting by the end of June. Megha Nair , who made her debut in Tamil, arrives in Malayalam with this film.
Sandhya is the heroine. The movie will also feature Ashish Vidyarthi, Sai Kumar and Anoop Chandran.
