The heavy rains in the coastal districts continue unabated and heavy damage to life and property has been reported from several areas. Nellore and surrounding areas are the worst hit and continue to be battered by heavy rains. Water has inundated the households in many areas.
A record 137 cms rainfall was recorded in the district in the last three days. Rescue and relief works are a bit tardy. The stream and culverts are also overflowing with water and roads have been washed away in many villages hampering the relief and rescue operations.
