In last one-and-a-half years Neha Dhupia has taken the stride from raunchy roles to be the heroine of small budget movies.
She is the girl who once swore that either sex or SRK sells in Bollywood. Today, Neha Dhupia thinks otherwise. She has moved away from skin flicks and is happy making a new start in small budget movies that offer her significant roles.
Two such films featuring Neha are releasing in quick succession. Director Anand Kumar’s Delhi Heights , which stars Neha opposite Jimmy Shergill , has hit the theatres today, while director Sanjay Khanduri’s Ek Chalis Ki Last Local (with Abhay Deol is slated to release on April 13.
Both are semi-realistic, small budget films. And both the films have Neha in significant roles. In ‘Delhi Heights’ she plays a married girl who gets attracted towards another man. In ‘Ek Chalis’ she plays a call centre employee who misses her last night train and is stranded with a young man for the whole night.
Neha says the subject of both the films will appeal to youngsters.
She is apparently happy with the way her acting career is going.
“The only big movie I have coming up is Apoorva Lakhia’s Shootout At Lokhandwala . Apart from this I am mostly doing small budget films that have given me a chance to play different roles. As an actor I crave for variety,” says Neha.
Neha will also be seen in Rajat Kapoor’s movie Mithya in which she gets to share the screen space with Naseeruddin Shah
