Her Hindi connection however, came as a big surprise to us.
Having worked in Tamil and Malayalam movies down South, we found her speaking eloquently in Hindi with a tinge of North-Indian accent. Padma revealed, “I have spent my entire schooling in the north as my father who’s an army officer was posted in Punjab and Chandigarh mostly.”
So how did acting happen? “It’s the most bizzare story. I have always been interested in studies, so post-MBA, I even worked for a while. I was enjoying my work life and was then spotted by a director who cast me in his movie eventually. That’s my tryst with vernacular cinema and I have honed my skills over the years.”
Now cast opposite actor Siddharth (remember the rich boy in Rang De Basanti ) in Striker which is due to be released some time soon, Padmapriya is all geared to take on Bollywood.
For the audience who are sceptical about her dialogue delivery in Hindi flicks, she has a special message for them. “My Hindi is perfect. Aap film mein khud hi dekh lena .”
