Minnisha Lamba recalls, “When I was in Kashmir, I used to go with a TV channel to cover the bombings. And now I am playing an investigative reporter in one of my upcoming movies.”
From wanting to be a war journalist to venturing into films must have happened through quite a few diversions. “I have been modelling since the age of four. When I was in Chennai, I got offers to do South Indian films. But I never took them up. However, ‘Yahaan’ changed things. I did that film because it connected me to Kashmir again,” says Minissha.
Elaborating on the surprises that life throws, Minissha says, “I was horrible at mathematics all through school. So I always took refuge in English books. But in my eighth grade, I stood second in the Math Olympiad, thanks to the multiple choice answers, which I took guesses at.”
Commenting on the different roles she has played so far, Minissha says, “My character was serious in ‘Yahaan’ while ‘Anthony Kaun Hai’ had me doing a con act. I played a romantic in ‘Rocky’ and a superpower girl in ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’.”
Does she regret doing any of the movies she’s done? “Not really, although I’d love to do certain roles—like Aishwarya Rai’s in ‘Devdas’,” says Minissha. What would Minnisha do if she suddenly found herself with superpowers? She answers, “I would end bureaucracy. But what would even be better would be having a store which has customised boyfriends you can just pick and go!”
