Mamta has completely moved away from Malayalam and Tamil and is now very much interested in sticking to the positive foothold that she had gained in Telugu.

She won the Filmfare award for best female singer this year for one of her songs.

There were rumors for a while that she was getting romantically involved with a very "colorful" music director in Telugu.

But, rumors apart, she continues to enjoy growing popularity both as singer and actress.

In the new film Homam , she is playing the role of the heroine. She also is doing some playback singing for the film, this time with the hero of the film, Jagapathy Babu is the hero of the film and co-singer of this song.

Mamta also had sung a song for the controversial and trouble-prone Simbu for his new Tamil film.
