Thai beauty Lena Christensen makes her Bollywood debut this Friday in Nagesh Kukunoor’s upcoming film.
Just a year back Lena could not have imagined that she would work in a Bollywood film. She had known about Hindi films from her mother who was hooked to the Hindi cinema of the 1980s and 90s. Lena herself saw a few blockbusters of that time.
An aerobic instructor who presented a fitness show on television in Thailand, Lena thought of trying her luck when she came to know that Nagesh Kukunoor was auditioning Thai girls for a lead role in his film Bombay To Bangkok .
Lena went for the audition and was eventually selected out of 100 other girls.
One week before the film’s shooting, Lena arrived in Mumbai and got to know her co-star Shreyas Talpade , who made her comfortable and did not waste much time in teaching her some of the choicest expletives in Hindi.
However, Lena’s dialogues in the film are mostly in Thai language. So she did not have much difficulty. And being an aerobics instructor, she fitted well into Bollywood’s song-and-dance routine as well.
Working in a Hindi film brought Lena closer to India, a country she had been curious about for a long time. Soon, she plans to travel across India along with her husband Rudy.
