The actress will dub her own lines for the first time in Namaste London

If we forget her role in Kaizad Gustad's Boom, Katrina Kaif's real voice is yet to be heard by audiences on screen. In both Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar and Raj Kanwar's Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Katrina's voice was dubbed by a professional artiste.

According to Rituparno Ghosh, who intends to direct her in Devi Choudhurani, Katrina's performance and her dubbed voice 'are like two different performances.' "But I'll make them one on the editing table. Katrina obviously can't speak her own lines in Bengali," says Ghosh. Now, Vipul Shah will finally let the actress have her say in Namaste London.

"In fact, it was her British accent that made me sign her. I believe all her other directors have dubbed her voice. But I want her to dub with that accent. It's authentic for the part she's playing," says Shah.

Interestingly, Ramu had signed Katrina in Sarkar for the same reason. He needed a girl who could play a Londoner and who spoke Hindi with a British accent. But finally, he got her voice dubbed by a professional. Now, if all goes as planned Katrina's voice will finally come into its own. Something she should consider herself lucky for. Sridevi had to wait for almost a dozen films before she could dub her own lines.
