 Gopika the girl from Kerala who made a mark in Tamil cinema through her girl-next-door-image had bid adieu to films after her wedding last week in Kothamangalam in Kerala. This Trichur-based Syrian Christian girl has done what she always used to tell her friends in the industry that she wants to settle down after doing a couple of good films. In a short span of time, she did a handful of memorable films with Cheran, Srikanth , Simbu and Pritviraj and in Malayalam worked with all the top stars before her voluntary retirement from films. In fact her husband Dr Ajilesh claims that he has never seen any of Gopika's films and he wants her to be a good house wife as they plan to settle down in Ireland. Gopika , who is now on a honeymoon to an undisclosed place was busy learning cooking and says: “I have learned to make good chicken curry and almost all Kerala dishes as Aji is a foodie.” Her last release will be the Malayalam film Veruthe Oru Bharya with Jayaram and the multi starrer Twenty Twenty which will be an August release

The film was originally scheduled to hit the screen on June 25 but it will now be released on July 10. She plays a doctor who runs a mobile boat clinic on Godavari treating patients living in the small islands in the river.
