The Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India, which will screen 40 films, was inaugurated here today by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priyaranjan Dasmunshi.

"The Indian film industry depicts the diversity of Indian culture and our films enjoy a worldwide audience," said Dasmunshi in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane, who was the guest of honour for the function.

Dasmunshi called on Indian filmmakers to promote this multiplicity to the whole world and said they should not remain confined to the country.

Members of the jury for the non-feature film section headed by Syed Mirza and Ashoke Pandit, director of the opening non-feature film "And The World Remained Silent", were felicitated. The film depicts the trauma of Kashmiri migrants during the past 17 years.

The opening film in the feature film segment is "Missed Calls" directed by Mridul Toolsidas and Vinay Subramaniam. In all, 20 films each in the feature and non-feature film categories will be screened in the Indian Panorama section.

They were selected from 96 feature films and 102 non- feature films produced between August 1, 2005 and August 31, 2006.
