Dasavatharam (Ten Reincarnations): Asin , the Queen of Kollywood, the South Indian Tamil Film Industry makes her way as a unique actress

Dasavathaaram (Ten Reincarnations), a Tamil feature film dubbed in various Indian languages starring Kamal Haasan, the versatile Indian Actor in ten different roles makes history in its way.
Asin Thottumkal, the South Indian attractive actress and a native of Kerala, a state on the tropical Malabar coast of southwestern India in the vicinity of Arabian Sea, having a large number of Indian and International fans makes a lasting impact in the film "Dasavatharam".
Asin's smiling face in "Dasavatharam" as Andal in the midst of her all time suspicion with Kamal Haasan recalls at times the silent smiles of the Hollywood blockbuster film "Basic Instinct" fame Sharon Stone, in the film "Sliver", a 1993 Paramount Pictures' film when she is to deal with a person who is her mate but who has a habit of secretly observing others invading in their privacy including her own.
Her entrance into the film industry has an interesting past. While she was assisting her businessman father, she was modeling for the brands Colgate Toothpaste and Fairever Cream. This exposure got her noticed and made her debut on the tinsel screen in the Malayalyee film "Narendaran Makan".
After her initial success, she was offered Telugu movies, and warmly welcomed in the Telugu film industry. It was a smooth transition from Telugu to Tamil with the film "M Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmi", a super hit Tamil remake.
Asin speaks a wide range of languages such as Malyalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit, English, French, and may well be the only Indian actress with a Blogspot in French. She was the winner of an entrepreneurial award as a teenager and fond of reading and has a huge collection of books.
Asin's reaction as Kothai Radha in the12th century Chola kingdom in India when the king orders to tie her husband Rangaraja Nambi (Kamal Haasan), a Vaishnavite with the huge idol of Vishnu to throw in the Indian Ocean and her plea towards her husband to renounce his belief takes us back in the time roller coaster to the 12th century era and cry with her.
Her role as Andal, a granddaughter of a 95-year-old mentally retarded woman Krishnaveni (Kamal Haasan) is really expressive. She does her best in the scene when Govind (Kamal Haasan) tries to escape with the idol and when she tries to stop him as she is worshiping the idol. In the scene when Govind and Andal find out they are being hunted by the police and that they are portrayed negatively in the press, her reaction towards Govind is very lively.
Her taste of success at a very young age in Indian movies with the popular Indian awards "Filmfare Award for the Best Telugu Actress" in 2003 and "South Filmfare Award for Best Actress" in 2005 with the international accolades in "Dasavatharam" will definitely make her way as a dream girl in Bollywood, the major player of Indian film industry and among the fans around the world in the near future.
