The newly appointed PC chief Dharamapuri Srinivas took charge yesterday. His appointment is largely seen as a move by the high command to keep a check on the activities of chief minisiter YS Rajashekar Reddy. Srinivas has good relations among party members and with seniors in particular.

Many now see two power centres in the congress party. All these days, it was YS who was supreme in the state. Now many things will have to be routed through the PCC chief. The newly elected member of the Rajaya Sabha, KVP Ramachandra Rao wielded a lot of influence both in the party as well as the government. His role has now been curtailed to a considerable extent as he has shifted base to Delhi.

Srinivas is expected to put a brake on the activities of KVP regarding work in the state. Many detractors of YSR are rejoicing at this latest development. Party men will not flock to KVP for favours from now on but approach Srinivas instead.
