There has been large scale registration of films for dubbing with the AP State Film Producers Council as the latter imposed a ban on them from November 13. By the deadline date, a total of 113 films were registered thus defeating the very purpose of the ban. Even if the council is very particular to impose the ban, it will take at least two years as the films, numbering around 120, that were already registered with it will have to be released.

At the same time, some producers were ready to defy the ban and were ready to face the consequences by releasing the dubbing films. One producer reportedly claimed, 'I know that the council will not allow me to utilise the concession on advertisements and other things. But I have no fears and am ready to go ahead.'

While 96 straight films were released during this year, about 78 dubbed films were also released simultaneously. During the corresponding period last year, the gap is very big. Of the 130 straight Telugu films, there were only 65 dubbed films.

Though it remained just 50 per cent, the council took a hard decision to ban the dubbed films, claiming that the straight films and low budget films are not getting theatres to screen their film because the dubbed films are occupying them.
