Amitabh Bachchan’s mother Teji has been in poor health for a few months now. In and out of hospital for most of 2006, the senior Mrs Bach-chan is presently admitted at Lilavati on the 11th floor, under the regular care of specialists.

Of late, Aishwarya has been a constant visitor to her VVVIP room, to check up on Abhishek’s grandmom’s health.

On December 31, sometime between 6.30 and 7.30 pm, Ash, dressed in denim capris and a yellow T-shirt, was accompanied by Abhishek sporting his blue superman T-shirt and Amitabh casually dressed in his trackpants and sweatshirt. According to the buzz, Ash offered prayers for the quick recovery of Teji on her recent visit to the Ajmer Dargah.

A source close to the actress reveals, “She is as worried as Amitabh about his mom’s health. There are times when Ash and Jaya (Bachchan) have spent long hours with Teji in the hospital. She has been spotted visiting the hospital since September.”

Constant visitor

A source present at the Lilavati revealed, “Amitabh was looking very tired and haggard. Ash was wearing dark glasses and stuck to Abhishek’s side. While the trio was making their way from the reception to the elevator, a onlooker took some pictures of them on his mobile phone.

Amitabh personally walked towards the person and requested him to stop taking pictures. When the man didn’t react, he asked the security guards to make sure he didn’t continue taking pictures and walked away.”

Sources close to the Bachchan family add that Ash’s constant visits to the hospital are a direct indication of her being treated like a part of the parivar. “Ash carries with her some rudraksha manis (beads) that she has passed on to Abhishek.

They are supposed to bring the bearer good luck and riddance from any health- related issues. She is believed to have given some to Teji for her quick recovery as well.”
