No, Ujjwala Raut has certainly not quit modelling. With the fashion weeks around the corner, don’t be surprised if you see her sashaying down the ramp. However, Ujjwala is yet to decide where and for whom she’s going to walk. “I have got some offers and I will be walking for some shows; only I haven’t decided which ones,” she replies.

But Ujjwala does admit that models have a shelf life. “Unfortunately, that is just the case. However, I think that if you have made a name for yourself, you will obviously last longer and that suits me just fine,” she says diplomatically, adding that there are many opportunities in the fashion world apart from modelling, provided one wants to pursue them.

And while Ujjwala has a busy schedule ahead - she’s going to be present for the Nokia show at the Delhi fashion week, followed by a shoot in London for the cover of an international magazine soon to be launched in India, a Stockholm show and a shoot for Spiegel in NY to list a few - she has also set her eyes on acting.



“I’m very happy with my modelling career. That said, I would like to get into films both here and in Hollywood. In fact, I just completed an intensive 5-week actor’s studio in Paris. Also, I have recently done a couple of screen tests in LA, so let’s see where this goes,” she reveals.

But won’t that mean a lot more hectic life for her? “Well, my family has been very supportive of everything I have done so far and I know they’ll continue to be so. Couple that with an efficient manager and I’m sure to find a way out,” she explains.

Lastly, what is her take on anorexic models? “ Models in general are slim and thus fit the nature of the job. That said, if a model’s body fat is below a certain level, then it makes sense for her to not walk the ramp. It is a very demanding profession and one is constantly on one’s feet,” she signs off.
