He is the man who transforms Amitabh Bachchan into his various avatars -- be they Jai, Vijay, Dinanath Chauhan or the latest Gabbar Singh.
As the superstar turns 64 today, his make-up man Deepak Sawant says, "More than Amitabh the great actor, it is Amitabh the great man who is more admirable.
"Of course he is a very good actor, but over the years I have learnt from him how to be a good human being. He does not speak unnecessarily, and treats everybody with great respect. He did my film only on the basis of my personal equation with him, and I will never forget that," Sawant said.
"I have been doing his make-up for the past 30 years, and though we had a misunderstanding in between when we did not work with each other for several years, I knew I would go back to him."
Sawant, who recently produced the Bhojpuri film "Ganga", pulled off a casting coup of sorts by featuring Bachchan and Hema Malini together in it.
"I had asked him to do the film but he refused at first. Later, however, when he looked at the script, he instantly agreed and the kind of commitment he showed on the sets and during the filming was unbelievable," he said.
Sawant also doubled as Amitabh's make-up man during the film.
