Ajay Devgan stars in a short film urging fellow citizens to stop littering and clean up the country.
According to a newspaper report on Monday, the movie, titled ``The Awakening,'' is to start airing soon on television and in theaters before the main attraction.
Devgan told the newspaper the film has a simple message – Indians should keep the streets as clean as their homes.
``Just as we don't litter our homes throwing dirt around, we should use the dustbins outside instead of throwing things around on the road,'' Devgan was quoted as saying.
The trash situation is so bad in his home town, Mumbai, that flooding there last week left houses filled with sewage, providing filmmakers with plenty of material to shoot for the film.
Many in Mumbai blame the flooding that almost every year accompanies the annual monsoon on storm drains blocked by trash, and Devgan warned: ``This could happen to your city too. So it's time we began caring for it.''
