The striking auto unions have now decided to intensify their agitation. The government is also firm in its stand that the auto drivers should go in for digital meters. The government has extended the deadline for fixing digital auto meters to December 10.

A delegation of auto drivers led by their union leaders met former chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu and sought his help in resolving the issue. Babu is reported to have expressed his solidarity with the auto drivers.

After listening to their problems, Babu is said to have 'advised' them to gain the confidence of the people of the twin cities. The majority of the people are of the opinion that many auto meters are tampered and the government’s move to insist on digital meters is correct. The public is ready to bear any mount of hardship but want the government to stand firm over the issue.
