Neena Gupta’s daughter and fashion designer Masaba gets candid about the much-hyped day and being open to Bollywood offers
Like her bohemian actor-mother Neena Gupta, fashion designer Masaba believes in defying convention. Unlike most of her friends who would be making the most of Valentine’s Day, the dusky Masaba has no such sentiments.
“Honestly speaking, Valentine’s Day means nothing to me. Everyday has its joyful moments. So why single out a just a specific day?” counters Masaba who has a passion for dancing and has been learning film and hip hop dancing at choreographer Shiamak Davar’s academy . Incidentally, for a recent Sandeep Soparrkar, pre-Valentine’s dance celebration, she danced to a waltz number with her mother.
Refuting rumours that she nursed a camera phobia, Masaba insists that she is game for a Bollywood debut. “If something great comes along, I would certainly grab the offer to act in a Bollywood film. I would like to work with someone like Sanjay Leela Bhansali . Despite its mixed box-office reports, Saawariya is my favourite movie,” insists Masaba who also has the dream to work with her mother.
Incidentally, Masaba means an African princess. “My dad Vivian Richards (former West Indies cricketer) chose the name,” she gushes.
