'Ore Kadal' (The Same Sea), Shyamaprasad's latest Malayalam film, won the audience award at “Bollywood and Beyond”, Germany's only festival of Indian cinema.
Shyamaprasad received a trophy and a cash prize of 1,000 euros from Shobha De, author and celebrity socialite, on the concluding midnight ceremony.
The festival screened 20 feature films, 23 documentaries and 13 short films, over a period of five days. Manish Acharya's "Loins of Punjab", Umesh Kulkarni's "Valu, The Wild Bull" and Jag Mundhra's slick, new film "Shoot at Sight" were the other important films that were competing with ‘Ore Kadal’ for the awards.
‘Ore Kadal’, featuring Mammootty and Meera Jasmine , based on the Bengali novel ‘Heerak Deepthy' was applauded widely in the festival circuits, where ever it was screened.
