Prakash Raj, the multifaceted and highly talented actor believes that there is a hero in every character that he plays. Today, he is one of the most prominent figures in Indian film industry. After consolidating his ground in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, he is also a sought-after man in Bollywood. He plays the role of a eunuch or that of a notorious villain with same ease. He commands the screen. An interview with him.

FC: How come you are in film industry?
A: It’s my dream. I believe I am born for acting in movies. Before coming to the industry, actually I was an active participant in all the cultural activities at school and college levels.

FC: You are a successful man today. What’s the secret behind it.?
A: It’s simple. Just luck. (Smiles)

FC: What makes you distinct from others?
A: I don't think there is much of a difference. Perhaps I differ in expression. If others say that two plus two is four, I think I say three plus one is four.

FC: Any new projects?
A: Presently, I am doing for Varsham. I am happy that there is immense response from the audience for my role in Tagore and Shivamani. Now, I am producing three films in Tamil. One of them is the remake of Telugu hit “Aithe”.

FC: Lot many actors of your age are making desperate efforts to project themselves as mass heroes. Strangely, you seem to be satisfied with character roles. Why?
A: I don't like playing stereotyped roles. I choose those roles that really excite me, and I think of myself as a hero in every role that I play.

FC: You always display separate mannerisms with each character you play? How’s it possible?
A: It’s true. But I don't work extra hours for that. Most occasions, I simply concentrate on the character and its perfection on the screen. Concentration will provide you with much variety and mannerisms

FC: In the recent past, you were under a thick cloud of controversy….. Why?
A: It's not that I like controversies. I am also a human and I do commit mistakes. Sometimes, I realize them delayed and apologize for the same. When any misunderstanding arises, I don’t have any regret for it.

FC: So next a couple of years from now, where do you see yourself?
A: I am like a traveler. I don’t set any particular goals. We don’t know what we might find beyond the far horizon. Just get going. That’s it.
