Sisters Raima and Riya Sen recently took off to the Formula Racing Championship in Malaysia; an experience, which Raima terms as ‘an unforgettable one’! “We have never been crazy about speeding in cars but we wanted to savour the F-1 experience at least once. We got to see the race from the VIP stand. It was superb to see all those dream-machines lined-up before the race began and zip off in a second!” recalls Raima, adding that ever since she has come back she cannot help but rev up her car in a similar fashion! “It’s been like an adrenaline shot for me and Riya,” she says.
Incidentally, Raima’s got much more on her plate to keep her upbeat. The success of ‘Honeymoon Travels’ has won her appreciation as a mainstream actress. “I got a lot of praise for playing the bohemian Bengali wife and especially for that paragliding scene,” laughs Raima.
She continues, “Henceforth, I’ll be concentrating on only one film at a time. At the moment, I’m focussing on Aparna Sen’s ‘My Japanese Wife’, wherein I play a widow, who’s also a maid. It has been fun learning to observe maidservants for this role. I now know how to do excellent jhadoo-pochha (laughs)!” She adds, “Japanese actor Chigaku Takaku also features in it. I will be soon leaving to shoot for the film at Sunderbans (West).”
Raima is hopeful about walking the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week this winter. Quiz her about sister Riya Sen coming in the line of fire for the ‘risqué’ pallu during her appearance at the recent fashion week and Raima fumes saying, “It is ridiculous!
That was the designer’s (Abhishek Dutta) concept. What is Riya’s fault if the designer wanted her to be presented that way?
Just because she’s Riya Sen , people find fault in anything she does. We both have put that incident behind us.”
