After the smashing success of "Rang De Basanti", superstar Madhavan is now hoping to score another hit with his debut English film "Nothing But Life" that will premiere in Mumbai soon.

Directed by award winning Kerala filmmaker Rajiv Anchal and shot entirely in the US, Madhavan plays Roby, a suicidal man who finds himself in a psychiatric ward.

The film shows Roby, an orphan, being taken to the US with help from a benevolent priest. He endears himself to fellow Keralites with his helpful nature in no time.

"He works as a barman in a casino in Las Vegas. He is a simple, happy-go-lucky guy who believes in helping people in distress. In the mission, he is ably assisted by two of his close friends Johnny (Madhupal) and a professor (Innocent)," Anchal told IANS.

The film takes a turn after Roby gambles his friend's money away on the day of his departure to India. Unable to withstand the guilt, he attempts suicide and finds himself in the psychiatric ward of a hospital.

In the hospital, life takes another turn for Roby when he runs into two women --
a Kerala nurse Vandana (Kaveri), who reminds him of childhood sweetheart and the Kerala village he grew up in, and US-born Rachel, also admitted because she tried to commit suicide.

Tamil actor Nazar is the psychiatrist who puts Roby on the road to recovery.

The screenplay is by former journalist Bobby Nair.

"I am leaving to Mumbai to finalise the dates for the all India release which would take place next month. For the world release, I have already begun talks with people in the US. If things go well, this film could well find a place in the forthcoming Sundance Film Festival and others," said Anchal.

This is his 10th film. Anchal's third film "Kashmeeram" won him the Kerala Film Critics Award in 1994. In 1997, his "Guru" was India's official entry for the Oscars. In 2003, he shot to international fame with "Beyond the Soul" winning an award at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
