Debutante director Satish Pothuval tells a very interesting story in his ‘Samayam’. The protagonist of the film is Chathappan, a man who is a talented sculptor. For him, making sculptures is no less than a passion. But adverse situations don’t permit him to do what he always dreams of doing, i.e., making beautiful sculptures. He lives with his wife Manikyam and son Appu in a village of potters. Chathappan drinks too much and wanders around the village, dreaming of sculptures and all. And then, when the whole village is afflicted with problems and disasters, they start believing that it’s all because of Chathappan.
They begin to see him as a curse to the village and very soon he is thrown out of the village. But Chathappan’s life takes a U-turn from here. Sreenivasan plays Chathappan, while Shwetha Menon is Manikyam. Master Ganapathy becomes Appu while Sreedevika, Vijayaraghavan and Nedumudi Venu do key roles. ‘Samayam’ is ready for release.
