The distributor of 'Vaaranam Aayiram' reportedly goofed up in releasing the film in and around the Salem area. When the distributor reportedly pressed for 'guarantee' money from the theatre-owners, the latter categorically refused to pay the distributor any amount al all. This could possibly explain why 'Vaaranam Aayiram' hasn't released in some important places including Namakkal.
Many distributors and theatre-owners from this area, who bought the films 'Aegan' and 'Seval' at high rates and reportedly incurred heavy losses, have managed to acquire the film 'Kodaikkanal' (a low budget film) that stars a newcomer as hero and Poorna as the heroine.
The producer of 'Kodaikkanal' has decided to release his film by using the 'digital' technique and has managed to sell the film to a whopping number of 92 theatres. It appears that rather than going for big-budget films with huge star cast that bite the dust at the box-office, the distributors might well decide to settle for films produced at low-budget which might not affect their returns and could turn out to be a safer bet.
