Did you ever see a Govt. That is paying fine for its irresponsibility? Here is the case to watch such a surprise. Human rights commission today gave an order to the State Govt. of A.P. to pay Rs.5, 00,000 as fine, for failing from its responsibilities to protect the prisoner Moddu Seenu who was murdered in the Anantapur Jail.
Reviewing the report tabled by DG Jails stating that ‘The jail staff is fully responsible for this incident and need to be treated accordingly’, made the commission angry and compelled to issue the order. The commission ordered the state Govt. to pay that amount to Lakshmi Rajyam, widow of Moddu Seenu before the end of this month.
The commission also gave an order to transfer all the jail staff of Anantapur Jail who ignored their duties of protecting the prisoners and failed to create a safe environment inside the jail premises. The commission clearly suggested the state Govt. the necessity of increasing the staff immediately.
