No, this is not the price of a plot at some posh location like the Hi-Tech city or Kondapur in Hyderabad. This is the price of a plot on top of the Tirumala hills, abode of Lord Venkatswara Swamy.
The TTD has decided to raise the price of the plots to 25 crore as this was the only way to prevent corporates and individuals from constructing private cottages on the seven hills.
The rate was only 2 crores till now. The TTD has received over 300 applications for allotment of plots from individuals as well as corporate. With the new move, not many would be ready to opt for private cottages.
The TTD gives permission to construct cottage on one condition. The party has to handover the cottage to the Devasthanam and the owner will be given an opportunity to stay in the cottage for 30 days in a year apart from VIP darshan.
