After a dull September (It has been the dullest September in the past many years!), Mollywood is gearing up for the ‘big fight’ in October!
Come October and you’ll see the superstars clash at the box office for supremacy. And as per reports, the box office is going to go live from the first day of the month itself.
On the first day of the month itself, i.e., on October 1st, will be released ‘ Maya Bazaar’, mega-star Mammootty’s latest flick, to be directed by debutante Thomas Sebastian. The film is reportedly a full-length entertainer that tells the story of people involved in black-marketing of automobile spare-parts etc. Mammootty plays in the film the role of a guy who buys and dismantles used vehicles and then sells off the parts. The film, which has an impressive array of artists in the cast, will reportedly be of the genre of ‘Thuruppu Gulaan’, Mammootty’s hit entertainer.
And close on the heels of ‘Maya Bazaar’, on October 2nd, will be released ‘Kurukshetra’, the Mohanlal-starrer directed by Major Ravi. And once again Mohanlal will be donning the role of Mahadevan, the brave army officer who became a hit with the audience with ‘Keerthichakra’, to which ‘Kurukshetra’ is sort of a sequel. The film, based on the Kargil war of 1999, has been shot on locations in Kargil and other places. ‘Kurukshetra’ is one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year.
And with ‘Maya Bazaar’ and ‘Kurukshetra’ hitting screens early next month, the war would begin at the box office. And the two films would of course be followed by films of other stars too, like Jayaram’s ‘Parthan Kanda Paralokam’, Suresh Gopi’s ‘Bullet’ and ‘Boss’, AMMA’s multi-starrer ‘Twenty Twenty’ etc.
So, will October fruitful for Malayalam Cinema as a whole? Let’s hope so!
