The temple town of Tirupathi is reeling under a severe shortage of diesel. The shortage has become so acute that the 30 odd petrol bunks in and around Tirupathi have been forced to put up ‘No Diesel’ boards at all their outlets.
The ring gas prices have forced the oil companies to ration Diesel to the outlets. Now the companies are releasing to these outlets based on actual sales. The diesel that a petrol dealer got yesterday was sold out in just five hours flat.
Thousands of vehicles are expected to come to Tirupathi over the next two days in connection with the public rally of Chiranjeevi With the acute diesel shortage, the organizers of the rally are worried that not many vehicles would be in a position to come to the rally from Chittoor.
People coming from far off places in the state have been advised to come prepared – i.e. to come with their tanks full and also carry enough surpluses.
