Katrina Kaif decodes what the term means to her and why she shares sizzling chemistry with Akshay Kumar When the half-Brit Katrina Kaif entered Bollywood, she turned a lot of heads with her gorgeous looks. But she was also panned by critics who picked on her poor Hindi.
Three years down the line, Katrina is one of the highest paid actresses in the industry with films with Yash Raj and Subhash Ghai. “I have had an amazing journey so far. But there is so much more left to be done. I did not come prepared into the industry. People found something missing in me. But I have worked hard and will continue striving. There is so much to learn each day. I’m still growing,” says Katrina.
The actress was recently voted as the sexiest woman alive by a magazine poll. Kat believes being sexy is not only about looks. “Sexy is a very interesting word for me. It’s about your total package. It’s about being approachable and attractive and also the kind of persona you portray on screen,” she says. “In India people find those women sexy who have a sense of realism too.”
When asked who she rates as the sexiest male in Bollywood she evades giving the answer. “Let people do a poll and find out. I don’t really know whom to choose as the sexiest,” she says.
When asked with whom she made a sexy onscreen pair and she gets dismissive again. “I have no idea. Scripts offer you the chance of looking sexy with one person more than the other. It’s for people to judge with whom I look the sexiest.”
What about Akshay Kumar with whom she’s known to share great chemistry? “I think it has got a lot to do with the variety of films that we have done together. We have done many romantic films where the chemistry will be better than say in a Partner with Govinda, which was a comedy.”
Rumour has it that all’s not well between Katrina and boyfriend Salman Khan and that’s why she’s not doing Salman’s production 'Veer', which is supposed to have the Khan’s good friend and model Bruna Abdullah in the lead. “I am not doing Veer because when the film goes on the floors, I’ll be busy shooting for other films,” she states diplomatically. Does she know about Bruna’s inclusion in it? “You should ask the makers of Veer about that,” she retorts.
