One look at the lovely lass and u do a double take; is that Bipasha? Or wait..is that Kajol? Well, the resemblance is not the only thing that is making Vishakha Singh happy these days. She has made her debut in bollywood with Mashhoor Amrohi's 'humsey hai jahaan'. Compliment her on her looks and she is quick to add, "But I can act too!". A fact seconded by various critics despite her movie getting a mixed response. 'Humsey hai jahaan is a whacky comedy. It may not have garnered enough response but I am proud to say my movie DOES entertain without resorting to sex, violence and excessive drama", she says defending her debut.
This Delhi girl has a Bachelors in Business Administration. "Beauty with brains", she quips "and it just made more sense to capitalize on the looks now". Having started her career in Mumbai with ads like Sunsilk, Samsung, parachute among others, she was also short listed for chak de. While she didn't make it there, her name was recommended by Shimit amin's assistant to Mashhoor Amrohi. Ask her if she regrets that, she says "there is no point looking back. The role was not in my destiny. Period"
Vishakha has literally been kept under wraps. So does she feel sidelined by Mashhoor Amrohi hogging all the limelight?" Not at all, I knew from the start that this was Mashhoor's launch vehicle. Considering I have no connections, godfathers I am happy to have got a decent role. And people have appreciated my work. Put me in a dark room and I will start shine."
Vishakha already has two more movies lined up for release this year; Coffee Shop produced by Sahara One Motion pictures and "Do Aur do paanch" rumoured to be with none other than Salman Khan! Quiz her on these and all she says is she will talk about these projects only when her producers tell her to talk. Well, looks like this talented girl is certainly going places.
