Madhumita is the new lady director in Kollywood who is ready with her debut film Vallamai Tharayo releasing today. Sify.com caught up with this young film maker on the eve of her film's release.

What is your current state of mind?
I’m a little anxious. But I’m sure that audiences will accept the film which I made with lot of honesty and hard work. I have to thank all the media who supported me, my family who stood with me and to Almighty.

After having done your schooling and lived outside India how could you relate to a subject of Indian marriages and its pitfalls?
Though I’ve lives outside India, I’m a person rooted in Indian culture. My heroine is a happily married girl who wants a divorce from her husband as he is too good a man than what she deserves! Doesn’t that sound different? (smiles)

So you are happy by the final product?
Yes I am proud that I made a good film, a clean film with an emotional story. The censors have passed the film with a clean U certificate and there was a standing ovation from its members after they saw the film. Technically the film is outstanding as my husband Vijay Venkatraman was overseeing all the work.

What went wrong between you are Parthipan?
He was a wonderful artist and we shared a great rapport during the making of the film. He supported me, was truly a professional and trust me there was no ego on the sets. It was team work that my dream come true. I strongly believe that the film is bigger than all of us.

But he did not turn up for the grand audio launch of the film even though he was in Chennai?
Yes, he had some misunderstanding. I had personally called him for the function but somewhere things went out of control.

So are you here to stay?
Definitely. I loved making Vallamai Tharayo. While in school and college, I had been interested in theatre and films. Now I have an offer each from Tamil and Telugu to direct films but I want to take time and do my next film.
