Chief minster YS Rajashekar Reddy said that the congress was very confident of doing very well in the ensuing by polls. He also expressed confidence that the congress will also win a majority of the seats in Telangana.

YS said that the by polls were not a referendum on separate Telangana. He however agreed that there was some sentiment in the region and the congress party was aware of it and also respects it.
