While all the political parties in the state like the TRS, NTP, TDP, CPI and now the PRP are in favour of a separate Telangana state, the congress party has been adopting a wait and watch attitude.

Chief minister YS Rajashekar Reddy who was in Delhi the other day met Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. It is understood that YSR is reported to have told both Sonia and Manmohan that there was no need to take a decision on separate Telangana at this stage.

The MIM’s total opposition to the formation of separate Telangana has come in as a shot in the arm for YSR. The congress was sure to come back to power even without announcing separate Telangana. So the issue will now be kept on the back burner for some more time.
