The favourite popular cry from Rajinikanth fans is getting shriller, that he should join politics. The rumour mill has it that his fans are going to meet at his Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam once he comes back from Goa where he is shooting for Shankar's Enthiren.
His fans are coming out with provocative posters in Madurai and Coimbatore, urging him to enter politics and clean up the state. In Madurai very provocative posters blasting the state government have appeared, along with graffiti's urging fans to go to Chennai and meet the superstar "who will come to politics at the appropriate time to fulfill the needs of the common man".
A survey carried out by Loyola College clearly indicates that Rajinikanth's popularity is waning. In the poll, the late thespians M.G. Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganeshan came first and second. The big surprise was that Vijay is ahead of Rajinikanth in the third position by getting 16.4 percent votes, while Rajnikant got 16.2. Remember last year, Rajnikant had topped the list followed by Vijaykanth!
Rajinikanth on the career front is also under the scanner, because nobody expected 'Kuselan' to be such a big flop. Under pressure from his fans and the trade, he knows that he has to do something to bring back that halo around him.
But political analyst and trade people are skeptical about his joining the cesspool of Tamilnadu politics. He has his animated film Sultan-The Warrior and Enthiren coming up for release next year.
