Mallika Sherawat may have risen to the status of a sexbomb in Bollywood, but she hasn’t lost touch with her Haryanawi roots.
Behind her sensuous pout and revealing cleavage, Mallika is still very much the girl from Haryana that she used to be. This, she proved while filming her upcoming movie Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam .
In the film, Mallika’s junior Tanaaz Lal plays a simple, non-glamourous Haryanawi girl. But it is one thing to dress like a Haryanawi gal and another to talk like one. Tanaaz encountered more than minor hurdles while getting her Haryanawi lingo right.
That is where Mallika came in.
After observing that Tanaaz was not able to get the vernacular right, Mallika volunteered to gave her a crash course in Haryanawi. Mallika taught Tanaaz the pronunciation and phonetic intonations of the language. She also taught her new words, some of them dirty ones, to broaden Tanaaz’s vocabulary.
Within days Tanaaz began to grasp the crassness of Haryanawi. And during this time she also forged a special bond with Mallika, whom she describes as “a very helpful costar”.
‘Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam’ has Mallika playing a theatre actress. The film also stars Paresh Rawal and Rahul Bose .
