“I feel elated. It’s wonderful to be part of such a great film, especially because it’s directed by Karan Johar. Not many actors can boast about standing in the same frame as dad, Shah Rukh, Rani , Preity, Kiron Kher and Arjun. I’ve been given that honour at a very early stage in my career.”

Hypothetically, if your ‘wife’ was ‘unfaithful’?

“I wouldn’t react favourably at all. I’d be crushed as most people would be, if they discovered that their spouse was involved with someone else"

So you still get butterflies in the stomach before the release of your films?

“Oh ya! And I hope that feeling never goes away.”

Suddenly, Abhishek is a trendsetter. What’s your fashion statement?

“I don’t have one. I leave the fashion statements to be made by more deserving candidates of my fraternity.”

Zayed Khan once said ‘everything Abhishek touches, turns to gold’. Comment?

“Zayed makes fun of me. He’s a dear friend. And no, whatever I touch doesn’t turn to gold. But I have recently been presented with a gold Motorazr V3i Dolce & Gabbana phone. But the gold has nothing to do with me. The gold on it is what Mr. Dolce and Mr. Gabbana are responsible for.”

So how do you spend your free time?

I don’t get much free time, but if at all, I like to spend it at home with my family and dog. I haven’t had time for anything else, very sadly. I haven’t played basketball for years now, nor have I read a book. I try to read a bit here and there, but it’s mostly scripts.”

Dog? Woof! That’s a new one?

“Yes, he’s a Great Dane. He was gifted to me on my birthday. We call him Shanuk.”

You’ve become a ‘chick magnet’ too of late? What’s the secret?

“You bribe them very well and keep them on a payroll. Just joking. I’m just thankful. I don’t question it, simply enjoy it.”

The males, too, are going gaga. Would you like to be a gay icon?

“Great! Why not? Appreciation and love from any quarters is welcome. I’d be very happy.”

Touchwood, everything’s rocking for Abhi. So why do you look so worried all the time?

“Currently just one very small little thing is worrying me - the Motorola Sliver L7. That guy gets more attention than I do and I don’t like that. No, but it’s a great phone. It’s a little known fact that the commercials we did for Motorola stemmed from a true-life incident.”

You mean you actually got upstaged?

“Yes! However, Ididn’t try to pick-up two beautiful ladies; no such luck in that department. But there was this fan who came upto me and requested for a photograph with me.

All of a sudden he saw my phone and started discussing it and very conveniently forgot about the snap. That was the seed for the entire campaign. It’s a great phone and garners a lot of attention. It worries me. But I’ll be back!”
