Actor Esha Deol has come of age. From her first release ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche’ to her last release ‘Just Married’, the difference in her style and commitment is evident. A cheerful Esha says, “I am glad people liked my work in ‘Just Married’. I had women telling me they would like to take me home. On the other hand, for ‘Ankahee’, people hated me for stealing another woman’s man. I am playing my characters convincingly.” No wonder, Esha is now looking at doing some more offbeat films. “I would like to work with directors who reflect a different line of thinking. Fortunately, I have a couple of offers for such films,” Esha smiles.
She has one grouse, though. “I get opportunities to do the jhatak matak, but I would like to do classical dancing in my films,” she shares. And how does it feel to be looked upon as the ‘next action girl’? She bursts into laughter. “It feels nice because I think only action. Even off-screen, I have punched people,” she shares.
Films apart, Brand Esha also seems to be on the rise, especially after being signed as brand ambassador for Provogue, a leading fashion line. “I was clear that if I were to endorse a brand, I had to take on something that suited me and my style,” she explains.
Word is doing the rounds that her mother is looking for a suitable groom for her. Is Esha prepared for marriage? “I am not prepared for marriage, yet. But mom can keep looking for a groom,” she smiles. So what qualities would she want in her husband? “The one man I have been closest to is my father. He is self-made. I would want to marry someone who is self-made. I can see myself living in a simple surrounding. I want to grow old with a lot of people around me. Hence, I want to marry someone who is willing to have 7-8 children. I would like to have a football field at home!” she says candidly.
So, what’s the best thing she’s inherited from her parents? “Simplicity,” she says quickly. “Despite being politicians and superstars, my parents are absolute humble beings. There is not an inch of pride in them. Even a layman can come and sit next to my dad without hesitation,” she beams.
