It’s official now. Viveik Oberoi and Salman Khan are not going to be so-called close neighbours. Oberoi acquired possession of a brand-new 3BHK apartment in Bandra Bandstand adjacent to Khan’s Galaxy Apartments a few months back.

But Oberoi rules out the possibility of moving in the Khan neighbourhood and has even put the same flat for sale in the market. “It was just another property investment that I made. I never intended to stay there. I’m disposing the place off in the coming weeks,” says Oberoi.

I’m still a bachcha

When Oberoi first bought that place, there was a lot of curiosity about his being ‘neighbours’ with his jaani dushman, Khan. But it now looks like that will never be the case.

Says Oberoi, “I never had intentions of shifting out of my father’s bungalow Kartarkunj. I’m like a bachcha, who can’t think of starting a day without seeking blessings from his parents. I’m very attached to my parents and I can’t imagine staying away from them,” he explains.

Budding poet

But he doesn’t deny he is looking for a pad of his own. Where he can spend time alone.

Says the actor, “I wouldn’t deny that I have been looking for a secluded place where I can pen down verses. I have always been fond of writing poetry and I wanted to pursue it almost like a vocation.

After buying this property, I realised that it’s too big a place as it has three huge bedrooms. Presently, I’m looking for a studio flat overlooking the sea. It will be an ideal place for self-retrospection and then penning my pent-up thoughts.”

Bandra buddies

Before Pali Hill became the desi Beverly Hills, Bandra Bandstand was the favourite place for stars looking to build a home.

Salim Khan was one of the first citizens of the Hindi film industry to move in to Galaxy Apartments. Javed Akhtar bought a house a few buildings away where his ex-wife Honey Irani and Farhan Akhtar now live.

Madame Re’s compound touches the Akhtar residence. Then there is Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat, a few blocks away. Recently John Abraham and Arjun Rampal moved into this famous starry locality
