MACTA’s former general secretary, director Vinayan may face disciplinary action for holding a press meet yesterday. He is alleged to have breached the code of conduct that was reached in the meeting convened by AIFEC to sort out the issues in MACTA.

Reacting to the complaint, AIFEC general secretary S. Vijayan told that, the confederation was yet to get a written complaint on the issue.

He said Mr.Vinayan had sought the permission of the AIFEC in addressing the media to clear certain allegations relating to the irregularities in the use of funds of the federation.

According to the code reached a couple of days ago, none of the members of the ado committee are allowed to talk to the press about the MACTA's new developments. But Vinayan used a press conference in the MACTA's state office itself to announce that they was ready earlier itself to step down and hold elections.

And now as everybody agreed to this settlement, it is ultimately their victory. He said that the fresh elections would give "laborers having creativity" an opportunity to take up new roles in various unions under the federation.

He also denied reports about AIFEC taking steps to freeze the bank account of the federation. Vinayan also used the opportunity to clear that by accepting to remain united under MACTA, the trade union culture in the film industry had been virtually accepted by everyone, even the members of the warring factions.
