Vijayawada gets a new police chief. KV Narendra Reddy has been appointed as the new Police commissioner of Vijayawada. The government issued a notification to this effect this afternoon. The present Vijayawada police commissioner CV Ananad has been transferred. He has been posted as the director of Prohibition and Excise Enforcement.
The transfer is seen as a punishment for failing to tackle the Ayesha murder case effectively. Even after three months of the murder, the police is still clueless about the identity of the culprits. The congress government had to face severe embarrassment, both in the assembly as well as outside over the issue.
