Rumours are that Shahid Kapoor 's alleged closeness with Vidya Balan came as a final nail to the coffin of his relationship with Kareena Kapoor .

A close friend of Shahid and Kareena alleges that the couple broke off in July itself and what came as a final nail to the coffin was Shahid's alleged relationship with Vidya , his heroine in ‘Kismet Connection’.

Eventually the things got pretty ugly and it was Shahid who decided to break off. By the time Kareena went to shoot for Tashan in Ladakh, both had gone their different ways.

However Bebo was still in two minds and only gave up on junior Kapur when she realised his increasing closeness to Vidya

Kareena had always liked Saif Ali Khan as a friend. He’s a wonderful human being, supportive and caring. When she was suffering Saif gave her emotional support.

During the shooting of ‘Tashan’ in Jaisalmer and Kerala she found herself spending more and more time with Saif. The two of them often spent a lot of time in Saif's makeup van as Bebo shared her sob stories with him.

The hurt was writ large on Shahid’s face during his back-to-back appearances on TV.

"It will be dishonest to say that this doesn't affect me. I am human, it hurts but I hold nothing against anybody. I'll cherish the good memories of that relationship and move on. That's what I'm doing - looking at the positive side and trying to be happy." he said while talking to media.

So it seems largely like an amicable parting.
