Vidya Balan was so eager to experience the audience reaction to her latest release Kismat Konnection that she decided to go and see the film at a Bandra theatre wearing a burqa.
Says a source close to the actress, “Vidya was in Delhi for the premiere of the film on Friday. But she appeared desperate to see how the audience is reacting to the film. When she landed in Mumbai the next day, she went straight to Getty theatre to see the show. She had to wear a burqa or else she would have got mobbed.”
When we quizzed Vidya about the news she said in a mocking tone, “What are you talking about? I don’t know about this.”
Kismat Konnection, the Vidya-Shahid starrer has got a good opening despite critics flogging the film and saying that it has a predictable storyline. The chemistry between the star pair is certainly nothing compared to the Shahid- Kareena Kapoor starrer Jab We Met but it still works in a way. Vidya is also unfazed by criticism and says that people have loved the film and that is what matters in the end.
“I know for a fact that the audiences have liked the film. People have said that they love the story. Critics have not liked it but that does not mean that people have rejected it. Look at the opening figures. People have gone to the theatres and it means that people waited for the film to release and wanted to see it,” the actor adds.
A good start means that the on-screen pair will certainly get offers to be cast together again, isn’t it?
“I hope so, and I would love to work with Shahid definitely in the future,” she says.
Vidya has previously also worked in another romantic comedy Heyy Babyy. Is romantic comedy a genre she always wanted to work in or has it just happened?
“No, no. I have always loved watching romantic comedies and always wanted to act in them too. Romantic comedies are thoroughly entertaining,” she adds.
But which is the genre that fascinates Vidya the most? “It really depends on the script and the plot. If it’s a good film, I get fascinated about it instantly,” she ends.
