Film editor N.Gopalakrishnan passed away here on Sunday morning. He was 74. He was in hospital for the past many days.

He is survived by wife Seethalakshmi, son Anilkumar (Chitranajali Studio), Daughters Amritha, Bindu and Hema

He has served as the editor for most of the films directed by Priyadarshan in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi. He was known as Ambi Annan in film circles.

He was the producer of the blockbuster Malayalam film Thenamaavin Kombathu. He also worked as the editor at Merryland studio and Chitranjali studio. Gopalakrishnan has worked with most of the prominent directors of Malayalam cinema. But he had a special relation with Priyadarsan for whom he had worked for nearly 50 films.

Gopalakrishnan was with Merryland till 1977. He then joined the KSFDC as the head of the Editing Department, and served the institution till 1993.
