The former Prime Minister Vishwanath Prathap Singh died this afternoon. He was 77. VP Singh breathed his last at the Apollo hospital in Delhi this afternoon where he was admitted for kidney failure.
Singh became the prime minister after he parted ways with Rajiv Gandhi over the Bofors issue. Singh is also credited with the Mandal Commission that led to reservations for the BCs.
