Udaykiran was proved a successful hero sometime ago and gave hits like 'Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu and Manasanta Nuvve'. Unfortunately, the films that came after that were proved duds and he distanced from the Telugu film industry for some time. He tried his hand in Kannada and Tamil films. Though he played hero in 'Avunanna Kadanna' under Teja's direction, it also failed to give an expected hit.

His Tamil film 'Poy' was dubbed into Telugu as 'Abaddham', but it too failed. At this juncture, opportunity knocked his door in the form of 'Lagadapati Sridhar'. Udaykiran got an invitation to play hero in 'Viyyalavari Kayyalu', which gave a concrete foundation for the second innings of Udaykiran in Telugu. Even as the film is on sets, he got another chance to play hero in Lakshmi Putrudu .

While both the films in the stage of production, he got a chance to play hero in a film to be produced by Medikonda Muralikrishna, which was launched on Vijayadasami. The unexpected turn of events gave immense happiness to the young hero. Udaykiran is also very confident and is keeping his hopes high on the success of these films.
