The Tripura government will felicitate octogenarian Meera Deb Burman, widow of legendary musician Sachin Deb Burman on September 15.

Meera is now leading a secluded life at an old age home in Mumbai.

Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs, Anil Sarkar , will visit her at the old-age home and hand over a cheque for Rs 1 lakh and some mementoes, director of information and cultural affairs, Subhas Das said.

The government, which faced criticism from many quarters over the delay in honouring her and ignoring her during the birth centenary celebrations of S D Burman last year, has also decided to celebrate the 101st birth anniversary of the music maestro in the state.
